Russian Railways plans to reduce import equipment purchases by 15-20%

JSC "Russian Railways" proceeds with its active support policy of Russian enterprises. The company has worked at the issue of suitability to purchase material and technical recourses of foreign manufacturers in 2009 and a comparative analysis of possibility to replace import components with Russian analogs was carried out. As a result the volume and assortment of import products were reduced in order to fulfill production programs at minimal currency costs.
In the first quarter of this year Russian Railways has reduced the purchase of chemical production of foreign manufacturers by 3,6 times in comparison with the same period last year, electrical products are 2,5 times less, mechanical engineering products are 3,8 times less, spare parts for track equipment were cut by 19%, materials of upper track construction are reduced by 38%.
Totally in 2009 JSC "Russian Railways" predicts to reduce import equipment purchases by 15-20%.
