Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA announced about joint venture opening

Company «Boeing» [NYSE: BA] and JSC «VSMPO-AVISMA Corp.» (VSMPO – AVISMA) announced today about joint venture Ural Boeing Manufacturing opening (UBM) in Verkhnyaya Salda town (Sverdlovsk region). A new factory is equipped with up-to-date equipment and technologies; it will be involved in mechanical working of titanium blankings fro the most advanced aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner and for Russian aircrafts.
Opening of UBM is one more important step towards improvement of partner relationship between VSMPO-AVISMA, state corporation “Rostechnologies” and “Boeing”, which has started in 1997», - said Scott Carson, the president and CEO of “Boeing – civil airplanes» Department. «VSMPO-AVISMA and “Rostechnologies” are reliable and the most large-scale partners of our company in Russia. I’m sure that UBM will be a successful enterprise which will manufacture products of high-quality and will support the production of Boeing 787 and other programs efficiently».

The joint venture Ural Boeing Manufacturing was established in August 2007. The construction of the new plant has been completed and the installation of the most up-to-date high-tech equipment for mechanical working of titanium blankings has been carried out within two years.
UBM will do primary mechanical working of titanium blankings produced from titanium manufacture of VSMPO-AVISMA, which is located close to the joint venture. A complete machining is planed to conduct at «Boeing» factory in Portland, USA, and at other metal working subcontractor enterprises. Besides, titanium chips arose at mechanical working will be sent back to VSMPO-AVISMA fro reprocessing, that will allow creating a unique close cycle chain for production support of titanium half-finished products, blankings and other kinds of products.
