European Union has imposed preemptive sanctions on Chinese import of steel pipes. Voting of 27 countries-members of EU was significant and evident because the requirements of European steel manufacturers such as ArcelorMittal were taken into account. It is expected that final duties will be announced in August. After some procedures the duty for seamless pipes can amount to 17,7–39,2%. If such decision is taken in August then the duties will come into force in October 2009 for the period of 5 years. As is known interim duties were imposed in April in the amount of 24,2%.
